The Walchensee (lake Walchen) is one of the deepest lakes in Germany. It has a maximum depth of 192.3 metres and an area of 16.3 sq/km and is 6.7 km long and 5 km wide. The lake is located in south Germany 75 kilometres south of Munich in the Bavarian Prealps near the village Kochel am See and is surrounded by wooded mountains.
The lake has very clear water and is a popular destination for tourists.
The water temperature ranges from 17 C to 20 C in summer and there are shores for bathing.
