The Tegernsee is a lake in southern Germany and located 50 km south of Munich. It is a recreation area for tourists and is half an hour drive from Munich. It is a popular destination and one of Bavaria's most beautiful regions. Try the local specialities.
The lake is 5.7 km long and 2.1 km wide and has an area of 8.9 sq/km. It has very clean water.
The following towns are located at the lake: Tegernsee, Gmund am Tegernsee, Rottach-Egern, Kreuth, Bad Wiessee
The lake provides drinking water for the city Munich and flows into the River Mangfall. Many small creeks flow into the Tegernsee. It has one island, the Ringsee-Insel
