The city Mainz in Germany is located on the river Rhine and is the capital of the state of Rheinland-Pfalz. Mainz has around 200 000 inhabitants and a University. At Mainz the river Main flows into the Rhine.
In Mainz the improved movable-type printing press was invented by the German printer (and goldsmith) Johannes Gutenberg around 1450. This made mass production of books possible and printing soon spread from there to other European countries.
You can cycle along the Main from Frankfurt/Hattersheim to Mainz. If you cycle further you come to Wiesbaden.
Cross the bridge and come to Mainz.
