Lutherstadt Wittenberg Germany
The Lutherstadt Wittenberg in Germany, (Lutherstadt Wittenberg) is a historically German city located north of Leipzig on the river Elbe. It has around 50,000 inhabitants.
Wittenberg was home to Martin Luther (a reformer of the church and professor of theology), Philipp Melanchthon ( a German reformer, the first systematic theologian of the Protestant Reformation, intellectual leader of the Lutheran Reformation) und Lucas Cranach des Älteren (was a German Renaissance painter and printmaker in woodcut and engraving ) and is one of the most important historical cities in Germany. Fortunately the city was spared destruction during the war.
