Koenigssee (Kings Lake)

The Koenigssee (Kings Lake) is a natural lake in southern Germany in the Berchtesgadener Land near the town Schoenau located south of the Austrian city of Salzburg. The lake is surrounded by steep slopes and that's why you can't walk around it. It was created during the last ice age. The water is very clean.


The Koenigssee is 7,2 km long and 1.2 km wide and has an area of 5.2 sq/km.

Only electric-powered passenger ships, rowing, and pedal boats are allowed on the lake to avoid pollution of the water.
