Gorlitz in Germany is a historical town in the easternmost part of Germany at the river Lusatian Neisse and has 54 000 inhabitants. It is located near the Polish border not far from Dresden.
The town survived the second world war very well and was divided in two parts, a German part and a Polish part. You can walk across to its Polish counterpart crossing a nice foot bridge. Bridges were rebuilt after the war.
There is a train crossing to Poland. The town was used by many movie-makers over the years because the historical part of Gorlitz remained almost untouched and is one of the best preserved in central europe.
