The Geiseltalsee is a lake in eastern Germany northeast of the town Mücheln. The lake was created in the process of replanting and rebuilding the soil of disturbed land in a former mining area for brown coal that was closed in June 1993.

The Geiseltalssee has 18.4 sq/km and is 7.3 km long and 3.5 km wide. It is the largest artificial lake in Germany.

It forms the "Geiseltaler Seenkomplex" together with the Runstedter See, Südfeldsee and the small Hassesee.

There are cycling tracks around the lake and some tourist facilities.

The cities Querfurt, Bad Lauchstädt, Merseburg, Naumburg and Freyburg are located at 15-20 km around the lake. The City Halle is located 30 km north, the well-known city Leipzig is located 40 km east.
