Bremen is a commercial and industrial city in northwestern Germany with a population of 548 000 inhabitants. It is located around 60 km south from the North Sea.
The Altstadt (Old Town) is surrounded by the Weser River and the former moats of the medieval city walls.
On the Market square you find the Town Hall of Bremen which was erected between 1405 and 1410 in Gothic style.
Bremen is a bicycle city with many bicycle tracks and is the home of many food producing or trading companies.
The biggest festival in Bremen is called "Freimarkt". It has many beer tents and food stands. Some call it "the poor man's Oktoberfest".
