Black Forest Cake Recipe

Try this Black Forest Cake Recipe which makes for a classic juicy German cake.

This recipe is for 14 pieces of cake.


  • You need a bake pan of 26 cm

  • What you need

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tablespoon of sugar
  • 200 ml oil
  • 200 ml orange juice
  • 300 gr flour
  • 3 tablespoons of cacao powder
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • cherry juice
  • 360 gr sour cherries
  • 1 paket red glaze
  • 600 gr cream
  • 3 paket vanilla sugar
  • chocolate splitter
  • How to make it

    1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees

    2. In a large bowl beat eggs combined with 250 gr sugar until thick creamy. Add oil and orange juice. Mix flour with baking powder and cocoa and combine all this.

    3. Fill dough into creased baking pan, put it into oven and bake it for 40-45 min. After this let it cool down.

    4. Cut the cake horizontal twice so you get three parts.

    Pour 3 tablespoons of cherry water on the first layer of the cake (bottom part).

    Drain cherries and capture juice. Keep 14 cherries aside for decoration.

    Combine 250 ml reserved cherry juice, cherries and remaining sugar in a saucepan and put all this on to the bottom part of the cake. After this put the second part of the cake layer on top and pour 3 tablespoons cherry water on it as well.

    Beat 200 gr cream together with 1 paket vanilla sugar until stiff. Then put all this on the middle layer of cake. After this put the third (last) layer on cake top and pour some cherry water over it.

    Let the cake rest for a few hours (overnight) in the fridge.

    Beat up the rest of the cream until stiff and put it around the cake. After this put the chocolate splitters on it. Decorate the top with the remaining cherries and cream.
